Kelly Point

Today Jim and I went to Kelly Point. It is the point where the Columbia River and the Willamette River meet. It is up in the industrial area, but its a nice little oasis on the river(s). Lots of people were on the banks of the river throwing balls and sticks for their dogs. There were actually quite a few people there playing frisbee, picnicing, walking around. It was nice.

There are lots of launch points for cargo and container ships along the river. It is amazing when you realize the scale of those operations. The area right next to Kelly Point is the Hyundai holding lot. There are acres of Hyundai's covered in that white plastic. It looks surreal. We got to see the Hyundai cargo ship pull off... or rather be pushed off by tugs.
