Clouds
So I have always said the only thing I would miss about Indiana is the clouds. Well I take that back. The cloud formations here are awesome. I am in heaven!
Today was an even better day at work. So is this what it is like to do the thing that you love? I was preparing for the job to be mediocre if not disappointing. I was preparing myself to fight off depression. But I am really okay. I am still stoked!
My apartment is a mess, which is funny because I really have nothing in it. I have got to clean it before little Jim comes.
I have made friends with one of my neighbors, Mary Ellen. She is an older lady, and she is very sweet. I have the carport next to hers - oh yeah - I have a carport! I am all ready for snow, well, with the carport and the excellent advice from my coworkers. Luckily they have a dry snow here for the most part.
Today is a red letter day... I ordered digital cable and hi-speed internet. WOOHOO!!! I will be in the pink come Monday when that sweet little cable guy knocks on my door. I can't wait! I even got a DVR in the deal so I can record all the shows I will be missing when I work all those long hours.
I went through "downtown" Liverpool tonight. It is SO cute - the houses. They have primarily moderate sized houses, whereas the other places had the extremes. It is also on a lake. I also went to the Lake by downtown Syracuse - by accident, but I did not get lost, I swear. Someone a work gave me some names of other towns I should check out for cool houses. They all are 10 to 15 miles from here. I think I would die in Mass. or Conn. or Rhode Island. All the houses. Stuff just insn't that old in the south.
So there are some things that strike me as odd in this place:
1. The speed limits are (in my mind) inappropriate. Most roads are 65mph. Holy cow, I can't maintain it, and you guys know how I drive - wink wink. It is 35mph in "town", but once you get outta town - vroooom.
2. The traffic lights are situated so it is extremely difficult to see the cross direction's light. That's good because it hinders people jumping lights. The bad thing is that they have you stop for a light almost directly under the light.
3. There are primarily Pepsi products here.
4. There really are few classically "New York" accents here. I am kinda dissapointed about that. Even people who have lived here all there lives have virtually no accent. No one has made fun of me yet (I must clarify that statement - for my accent).
5. There are very few foriegn cars, but a boatload of subarus (Yea Jim!).
I miss my babies. And my Jim, too. I even miss you Mom & Dad ;) I got used to having you guys around. I hadn't lived at home in a long time, but it was GREAT having the opportunity to spend that time with you guys. I know I was a pain in the butt! Love you!
The sunset was beautiful on the way home tonight.
