Unable to Drink
Okay, I have a lot of things to say today, so hold on…
Mom, did you notice me having problems drinking even as a child? I know it is no surprise to all of you… I spill coffee on myself every morning. It never fails. I think I have never gone through a day in my life where I did not have something on me. See why I drink through straws all the time? I wish I could eat through a straw too. I should get out my blender! Call me a messy eater I guess.
I made it back from Indiana without a hitch. It was quite a whirlwind visit. I didn’t take many pictures while in Indiana, just some random things that would probably bore you guys.
Jim and I had a good New Years. We went downtown for a fancy sushi dinner, vegetarian this time of course :) and we wandered around downtown watching all the people and enjoying the monument circle. It was so festive down there with all the lights and candy cane poles. I really think I could get into Christmas again. I did not take my camera with me when we went around town, so you guys don’t get any photos… sorry. Of course we headed home and piled in bed with the dogs to ring in the new year properly. Why be surrounded with strangers when you can be surrounded with LOVE! We were so tired we celebrated at 11pm (it was the new year somewhere). We promptly fell asleep, but thanks to Jim’s bladder we woke up in time for the actual strike of midnight. Yeah – GO Jim! Hahaha!
Norris, your clock was a fabulous addition to the new years eve effect! We really do enjoy it. I love the chimes.
Driving there for a 4 day weekend – fine. Driving there for a 3 day weekend – not so fine. I felt like I got there, then too soon left. To be fair though, I think I would feel that way if it were 3 weeks. I’m ready for my little dysfunctional family to be back together. Now I am plotting to get mom and dad to join me. Hey – you guys are part of my dysfunction, right?
Well I contacted my dean from Indiana University Informatics, and I let him know how I was doing. I felt it was good to do since we really had little feedback on what we were getting into (or had to look forward to) when I was in the program. The program is so new, there weren’t many people to glean information from. I suppose I should do my part to inspire the up and coming graduates. Secretly I had my doubts and fears when I went through all that grad school stuff because the field is pretty new and pretty exclusive. Aka – hard to break into. I’ve broken in!
Hey, maybe I’ll rename my blog again. You better get used to it… as with most things in my life, I’m always changing. You never know what I’ll do next. I am ready to get a little bit more settled however. I realized upon reflection the other night that I have always been like this – indecisive is one word for it I guess, but I think it is really is that I find so many things interesting (and I am impatient and short on attention). I love learning how things work, and I enjoy tinkering and exploring. As you guys know it was hard for me to settle on a path to follow, but what I think I like about this one it itself is always changing – always a new project and always a new challenge. Luckily Jim is always up for a change, he’s such a good boy.
So I’ll leave you with a story to make you laugh. I am always good for a laugh. I brought back the Subaru from Indiana packed with another load of stuff – lamp, vacuum cleaner (Jim “sacrificed” and bought a new one for himself and gave me the old one, you know, since I won’t be using it much!), the small goodwill table, and I great rug we found for my entryway (very salt colored). I also brought my bike back with the cool stand that converts it to an indoor stationary bike. So I set it up last night and road in spurts. I am SO out of shape. I of course ride in my pajamas and tennis shoes. Pajamas which are really baggy. Well the 4th time, and subsequently last time I road it last night. I was dismounting the bike and of course gasping for air and trying to ignore my throbbing calves when the crotch of my baggy pajamas got caught on the bike seat. My bike sits higher when it is on the stand that makes it stationary, so I have a hard time getting off and on anyway. I hung from the seat for a moment, panicking and dangling from the bike. I finally figured out what happened and pulled myself out of my pajama bottoms, leaving them hanging from the bike seat. Needless to say – tonight I will ride in tighter clothes.
