My last weekend in NY
Saturday I got up really early and ran around town. The sun came out and it was gorgeous. I went down and walked along the Erie Canal for a while. I realized that it would be so cool to cross country ski along the canal. They have some great trails. Oh well.
I then decided to head out for one last adventure. I intended to cut across the top of the Catskill mountains and run over to Conneticut and on through to Rhode Island. It didn't quite go that easy.
I talked to mom and dad in the car as I made my way south out of Syracuse. I lost mom and dad as I entered the Catskills. It was not quite what I had expected. I guess I compare everything to the Smokey Mountains. They were kinda bland, but the reservior was gorgeous though. There was some great driving there. Nice curvy smooth roads... too bad I did not have the infiniti.
After I went along the top of the Catskills, I cut down about 2/3 the way across and headed toward I-84 going into Conneticut. I was on the phone with Jim at that point. And to beat all... he got me lost (hahahahaha)! I ended up trolling around the Hudson River Valley. It was beautiful. I got a bit closer to New York City than I had ever wanted to, but the detour was totally worth it!!! The views were awesome!
I finally made my way over to Conneticut and cut through Danbury to Hartford. I then cut down to I-95 which runs along the coast. I messed around and went into Rhode Island a ways. It was getting late so I headed back to the barn. Of course it started raining cats and dogs on the way back.
Sunday I decided it was time to get down to business and clean and pack.
Today was weird. It is really starting to dawn on me that this is really happening.
